Your own balcony vegetable garden: fresh fruit and herbs within reach

You don't need a garden to harvest your own produce. With the right plants, a balcony can also become a small vegetable garden. In our collection of vegetable garden plants for the balcony, you will find edible fruit plants, berry bushes, and fresh herbs that feel perfectly at home in a pot or balcony box, without requiring much gardening experience.

Fresh fruit, even without a garden

Strawberries, raspberries, blackberries, and blueberries grow surprisingly well on a balcony, as long as they get enough sun and are in a pot with good drainage. Our fruit plants are hardy, meaning they come back year after year so you can enjoy a fresh harvest every season without having to buy new plants each time.

Fresh herbs right by the kitchen

Nothing is as nice as having home-grown herbs within reach of the kitchen. Our Italian herb mix combines popular kitchen herbs in one compact set, ideal for a balcony near the patio door, so you can just step outside while cooking for a fresh sprig.

How much sun does a vegetable garden plant need

Fruit plants and most kitchen herbs need plenty of sun to grow well and yield a full harvest: count on at least four to six hours of direct sunlight per day. If you have a south- or west-facing balcony, that is often enough for a healthy and tasty harvest. If your balcony is mostly in the shade, choose herbs that tolerate it a bit better, such as mint.

Harvesting from your own planter

Plant your fruit plants and herbs in a planter with good drainage. If you choose the Vercony GreenUp planter, you also benefit from the built-in drainage system. This is important, because vegetable garden plants do not like "wet feet" at all and quickly lose quality as a result. Combine different vegetable garden plants in one box for a balcony that is not only green, but also tastes delicious.

Start small and build your own harvest

You don't have to create a full vegetable garden right away. Start with one herb plant or a few strawberry plants, and discover how satisfying it is to harvest something from your own balcony. Browse our assortment and choose the flavors you are most looking forward to.
