How does the GreenUp balcony planter work? The planter is placed through and against the railing. Thanks to its smart design, the planter remains stable while the outside section "floats" on the exterior of your balcony. This allows you to have plants and flowers on both sides of your balcony railing.

Product information

With the innovative Vercony planter, you can instantly transform any balcony into a vibrant, green space. The clever, space-saving design clamps securely to most balcony railings and balustrades, ensuring a secure, stable attachment. This allows you to easily create a green strip along your railing—without sacrificing a single centimeter of floor space. Ideal for colorful flowers, aromatic herbs, or compact shrubs that instantly add ambiance.

The Vercony planter is designed for everyday urban use: sturdy and weather-resistant, with a minimalist look that seamlessly complements modern facades and balconies. The smooth finish is easy to clean, and the clever shape helps water drain properly, keeping your plants healthy and giving you less to worry about. With one or more planters, you can quickly create privacy, soften the streetscape, and give your balcony a calm, luxurious look.

Why Vercony works on your balcony

  • Space saving:green along your banister, not on your floor.
  • Strong & safe:Fits most fences and railings and remains stable.
  • Easy maintenance:quick to water and easy to keep clean.
  • Weatherproof & durable:made for the outdoors—season after season.
  • Instantly more atmosphere & privacy:flowers, herbs or small shrubs within reach.

Choose a single container for a subtle touch of green, or combine several for a lush balcony garden. With Vercony, you can transform every square meter of outdoor space into your own private green oasis.

To ensure you get the most enjoyment from your new planter, it's important to check the type of fence beforehand. Our planters are specifically designed for fences with straight bars.

Filling the GreenUp planter:

For the best results and stable placement, fill the Vercony GreenUp balcony planter in layers. Start on the inside, meaning on the balcony side, with a layer of approximately 3 cm of gravel and add about 3 cm of hydro granules to the front. Then fill the planter with potting soil and place the plants, putting the heaviest and largest plant on the inside. By keeping the center of gravity on the balcony side, the planter remains well-balanced and stable, even in varying weather conditions such as wind.

Fence placement:

Place the planter securely against the railings of your balcony. Slide the planter completely through the railing until the GreenUp planter is flush against the railing's bars.

How many plants can I put in one GreenUp planter?

Typically, 2 to 3 balcony plants thrive in the 21-litre container. Choose compact varieties for a fuller effect and place the largest plant on the inside (the balcony side) for stable balance.

How often do I need to water the plants?

Thanks to the built-in water reservoir, you need to water less frequently than with a regular pot. In summer, this is an average of 2 to 3 times a week; in spring and autumn, it's less. Feel whether the top layer of soil feels dry.

Can the planter stand in full sun without the roots getting too hot?

Yes. The thick, UV-resistant plastic heats up less quickly than thin plastic pots, and the water reservoir keeps the roots cooler. During a prolonged heatwave, water the plants a little more often.

Can I change the planting seasonally?

Certainly. You can redecorate the planter every season: flowering summer plants in summer and evergreen or frost-resistant varieties in winter. The planter itself simply stays outside.

Which plants provide the most privacy against intrusion?

Choose taller or densely growing varieties such as ornamental grasses, compact bamboo, or climbing plants. Because the planter goes through the railings, the greenery grows on both sides of your fence, providing extra screening from view.

Can I use the GreenUp on other fences with railings, not just a balcony?

Yes. The GreenUp fits on any fence with straight, vertical railings, so not just a balcony railing but also, for example, a patio railing or garden fence with railings. Please check if the railings meet the dimensions (see the 'Does the planter fit on my balcony?' dropdown).

Completely green with ivy

Ivy (Hedera) is the ideal match for a slatted balcony. It is a strong, evergreen climbing plant that makes few demands. If you place the base in a Vercony planter on the ground, the tendrils can beautifully weave their way through the slats.
