Grape hyacinths (Muscari) will give your balcony a sea of deep blue in the spring. These 50 naturalizing bulbs come back every year and grow fuller on their own. The small, grape-shaped flower clusters bloom from March to May and are loved by bees. Plant the hardy bulbs in the autumn in a container in a sunny to semi-shaded spot. Beautiful as a blue underplanting for tulips and daffodils. Maintenance-free and rewarding — color that multiplies itself.

Do grape hyacinths come back every year?

Yes, grape hyacinths naturalize: they return every year and naturally become fuller.

Are grape hyacinths suitable for a balcony in pots?

Yes, grape hyacinths do well in a pot or container. Plant them close together — but not touching — for a full floral result.

How deep should I plant the bulbs?

Plant grape hyacinths about 5–8 cm deep and 3–5 cm apart. In a pot, you can plant them closer together for a full blue effect.
