Lavender (Lavandula angustifolia 'Hidcote') is the classic choice for a sunny balcony: deep purple, deliciously fragrant flowers from June to August above grey-green foliage that stays beautiful all year round. Bees and butterflies love to visit it. 'Hidcote' stays nice and compact (30–40 cm) and is exceptionally hardy. It loves full sun, warmth, and a sheltered spot; it requires little watering. Indispensable for a Mediterranean atmosphere and buzzing insects on your balcony.
